FAQ

Where do lessons take place?

Lessons take place in my music studio in Pinner, Middlesex.

Do you offer trial lessons?

Yes, you may book an initial consultation or assessment when I can answer any questions you may have. Details on application.

Do you teach children and adults?

I teach beginners of all ages to advanced players taking their diplomas. I also advise teachers as part of their continuing professional development.

How long is a lesson?

Anything from 20 minutes for very young beginners to 90mins/two hours for professionals.

What is your availability?

This depends on whether I have any vacancies at the time you apply.  You can fill in your availability on the application form and I can then let you know if I have a vacancy at a time that suits you.

What are your fees?

Details of charges are available upon application.

Will I need an instrument at home?

Yes, you will need a piano to practise on. There are various options available – you can buy a new or second-hand piano, you can rent a piano, or buy a digital piano. (I do not recommend small electronic keyboards.)

Do I have to take exams?

No, only if you wish to do so. You may be able to find a syllabus that suits your particular requirements – I enter students for exams with ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and London College of Music.

Do you prepare students for music auditions?

I prepare children for 11+ music entrance exams for grammar and independent schools, and auditions for specialist schools (e.g. Purcell and Chethams).  I also prepare students for conservatoire auditions.

Do you teach music theory?

I incorporate theory into every lesson, from sticker books with young beginners to Grade 5 and above for older students. Theory is extremely helpful for sight reading and aural work.

Can I stop lessons at any time?

I require one month’s notice of termination of lessons.
